VimpelCom and Ericsson enter software partnership worth over USD 1 billion

Partnership marks a leap forward in VimpelCom’s digital leadership, transforming its traditional telco infrastructure into a global digital IT architecture

VimpelCom Ltd. (NASDAQ:VIP), the international communications and technology company that is committed to bringing the digital world to each and every customer, today announces that it has entered into a software partnership with Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC), in a deal worth more than USD 1 billion that will radically transform VimpelCom’s global IT infrastructure.

  • Alfa and Ericsson join forces to deploy 4G LTE- Advanced (LTE-A) networks throughout Lebanon
  • Using Ericsson’s 4G LTE-A technologies, Alfa will be able to offer its customers high speed data, extended data coverage and additional bandwidth for data usage
  • Additionally, Alfa and Ericsson signed a Memorandum of Understanding for 5G collaboration
